Training

Icarus offers a range of customised training related to its core activities around engagement and participation.

Community Engagement – Tools, Techniques and Strategies

Giving participants a solid foundation in the theory, practice and strategy development of community / stakeholder engagement processes.  The course builds from basics, considering the different approaches to working with communities and wider stakeholders and the level of engagement appropriate to different projects and initiatives.

Facilitation skills

This hands on course introduces participants to the principles and practice of good facilitation helping develop the skills needed to plan and deliver effective events and sessions. The course provides a range of techniques for supporting effective group planning and decision making.

Building an Effective Partnership

We apply Icarus’ experience of working with partnerships and takes a constructively critical look at participants own partnership work. By applying our Self Appraisal Toolkit participants have the opportunity to identify areas of weakness and to focus on the steps needed to overcome common strategic and operational barriers.

Engaging ‘hard to reach’ groups -developing a strategic approach

This training deals with the challenge of how to engage hard to reach groups. The course deals with some of the assumptions about who the hard to reach are and what makes them difficult to engage. In particular it gets participants to explore the nature of the relationships established between statutory, voluntary and community sector agencies and the communities whom they are working with.

Participative evaluation skills

Icarus has developed a proven training model which allows workers to understand and self design an outcomes focused evaluation which engages stakeholders to a project in supplying evaluation feedback. Icarus has developed the model for workers in a range of settings, including children’s and youth work and projects supporting engagement with the natural environment.
