As part of our work to support Morecambe Bay Nature Improvement Area in engaging local people in planning, Icarus supported the development of a scheme to restore Winmarleigh Moss in Lancashire. The Moss is a rare lowland raised bog habitat. Much of this type of environment has been lost in recent decades, and the NIA was seeking to undertake work to restore Winmarleigh Moss to good ecological condition.
The work was led by Lancashire Wildlife Trust, and involved Icarus designing a dialogue process that enabled members of public and landowners and neighbours to come together to consider the scheme of works and the implications for their businesses, the use of the Moss and for the natural environment.
